Ghandruk to Tadapani

Sunrise over Annapurna, the pushup punishment, and endless stone steps through rhododendron forest

📍

Ghandruk → Tadapani

Weather: Stunning sunrise, clear mountain views

⏱️ Duration: 7 hours

Day 3: 10 Oct Fri (Ghandruk to Tadapani)

Magical Sunrise

Woke up at 5:30 am and went up to the terrace to see the sunrise with George. Nobody was there. We set up the phone camera to take timelapse video.

By then more people came up. The sun started rising slowly and the golden glow fell on the Annapurna mountains and Macchupuchare (fish tail) and it was beautiful. Just imagine waking up to this view every day. By the time the sun came up fully, the whole place looked stunning.

The Pushup Punishment 😄

We had breakfast and started to assemble outside. Praveen had asked us to be ready to go by 8am, but most of us were late - only ready at 8:15 or so. He said we should take a punishment - in the moment I said 5-10 push-ups! Everyone was shocked and started teasing me.

Praveen said 1 pushup for every minute each of us were late. We agreed & did! Fun!

Through the Rhododendron Forest

Started hiking - all of it was through dense forest - mostly rhododendron trees and a stream by the side. It was breathtaking.

60% of the hike was huge stone steps that went up and up endlessly. It was tough, but I kept going - one step after another. George was walking next to me.

There were a few places where a stream crosses or there would be mud from last week’s rain. It was a beautiful trail, but difficult.

But finally we reached the tea house - yay! - by 3:00pm

Tea House Life

We had lunch, then snacks and dinner.

We had a good time during lunch - talking about old stories, teased each other.

Tomorrow: Another sunrise and the trek to Dobato
